FROMM Syrah 2021
Dark red/purple colour, still quite closed on the nose, exhibiting some deep, dark fruit aromas, which slowly give way to finer, more floral features, indicating a wine that will greatly benefit from a few more years of bottle aging. The same appears on the palate, at first rather austere and unyielding, but as the wine opens up in the glass it reveals genuine cool-climate qualities, intense flavour concentration without being heavy, combining masculine power with an underlying elegance that will blossom over time.

29 Nov, 2021 – This has a complex and sultry edge with ripe plums and cherries on offer, as well as dark chocolate, white pepper, hard brown spices and graphite-like, savory notes. Complex. The palate has a bright, fleshy edge and a core of juicy dark-cherry fruit that sits long, elegant and pure. I like the savory, complex style here. From organically grown grapes. "Certified organic, the 2017 vintage (4*) was hand-harvested, blended with a splash of Viognier (2 per cent), fermented with indigenous yeasts, and matured for 19 months in French oak barrels (less than 10 per cent new). Fullish in colour, it is a fresh, medium-bodied wine, vividly varietal, with strong, plummy, peppery flavours, gentle acidity and supple tannins. Already enjoyable, it should be at its best 2021+."
