FROMM Pinot Noir Clayvin Vineyard 2022
Open and expressive on the nose, with notes attractive of dusky hedgerow fruits, florals, subtle spice and a touch of sous bois. The palate definitely leans into the sous bois character; there are notes of wild strawberry and rosehip and savoury characters reminiscent of porcini mushroom. Overall, this gives the impression of a walk in the forest to forage for mushrooms and autumnal berries. The tannins are tightly wound, providing a firm framework, and a soft acidity gives a rain-water-like freshness.

Fantastic bouquet and palate with a wild side, a natural side and a personality that can only be a Fromm expression. Aromas and flavours of site and style with a complex clay, sweet earth and core fruit frame. Plum and cherry fruits, wild berries and wild flavours, some fine wood spice layers then an extended lees complexity. Dry, and textured with fine polished tannins, plenty of acidity and a long complex finish. This is a wine that speaks of place and producer, Very well made with a lengthy finish. Best drinking from 2028 through 2038.

This is an extraordinary Clayvin Pinot Noir. The crop was moderately low, there is huge concentration, but the wine retains excellent structure, linearity and great tension.
The colour is dark red with a purple hue, followed by intense, vibrant aromas of dark fruit, plum, cassis and blackberries, and above all great purity and freshness. The same theme is reflected on the palate, a wine of enormous flavour concentration and refined texture, seamless, mouthfilling and with a very fine tannin coating supporting the long, persistent finish.

Sleek and seductive wine with tight-knit tannins and cassis, dark cherry, plum, and nutty oak flavours. A thoroughbred red with impressive density and serious cellaring potential. Approachable now but worth waiting longer. Cellar 2023–2035

Fragrant, floral and fine with a bouquet of violets and sweet plums, raspberry and cherry, the time in oak has developed complexities without compromising the youthful charms of the variety and most importantly the ‘pinosity’ factor. Supple, fragrant, a core of fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet, an abundance of fine polished tannins, a strong acid line and core of deliciousness. Plush and ripe, complex, dry and lengthy, a lovely example that will age well and long. Best drinking from 2025 through 2035.

25 Jul, 2023 – Intense notes of ash, dried flowers, dried cherries, burnt lemons, espresso and dried spices. It’s structured and firm, with a medium body, tight-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Tightly wound. From organically grown grapes. Better after 2024.

As the aromas of this wine invade the senses and the wine reaches ambient temperature a myriad of scents begin to unfold from white smoke and mineral, pure red berry fruit aromas, a gun flint and fine dried herb and judiciously layered oak complement. Complex and beguiling. Youthful and complex on the palate with fine chalky tannins and acidity engaging first. The flavours of red berries and spiced plums, savoury dried herb all fuse together on the palate. A lengthy complex wine that will reward those who choose to cellar this fine example. Best drinking from 2025 through 2035.

Elegant yet imposing, it’s immensely complex on the nose showing dark cherry, thyme, toasted nut and warm mushroom characters. The concentrated palate delivers outstanding focus and persistency, combined with succulent fruit intensity and refined mouthfeel, finishing engaging and flatteringly classy. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2036.

Deeply-scented pinot noir with floral, violet, plum, dark cherry, spice and grape stems. A tantalising core of fruit sweetness is perfectly balanced by fine, ripe tannins. Restrained power and an appealing texture. 03 MAR 2021

16 Nov, 2021 – This is a richly fruited and flavor-soaked pinot with a wealth of spice, red and dark cherries, roses, violets and red plums. The fruit intensity and purity on the palate is really striking. The really well-defined tannins are so commanding. Long, fresh finish. Drink over the next decade.

"From Marlborough’s most famous hillside vineyard. Beautifully pure pinot noir with floral, rose petal, cherry and raspberry flavours plus a seasoning of spice and nutty oak. An impressive expression of place."
