FROMM Malbec Fromm Vineyard 2020
Deep inky/black colour that leads to a vibrant and penetrating, dense nose of dark fruit, wild berries and cassis aromas with an underlying earthy complexity. The palate is ripe, concentrated and focused with strong tannin support, that will require 2 to 3 years to integrate into a fully balanced and harmonious wine, even though it is already very enjoyable with some hearty comfort food. In short, a high intensity, cool climate “tour de force” Malbec, combining power and elegance.

Deep, inky, glass-staining wine with an intense mix of plum, pepper, dark chocolate, mocha, and spicy oak flavours. This is a formidable wine that in a perfect world would spend at least ten years in the bottle before being opened. Firm tannins are balanced by a juicy core of fruit sweetness. 04 OCT 2023

A concentrated dark purple core with a lighter pink-ish rim lead to a bouquet of red licorice and fresh meats, dark spices of clove and vanilla, fresh leather and smoky wood tones. Brand new aromas an aromatic, dark red wine with power and concentration. Flavours of dark plums and red licorice, some fine pepper corn suggestions, violets and raspberries, dark flowers and new leather. Firm very polished tannin with a solid acid line, core fruits and varietal core. Best drinking from 2025 through 2040.

Gloriously rich yet pristine and structured, the wine shows black/blueberry, rich floral, cured meat and roasted nut aromas on the nose. The palate delivers excellent concentration combined with plush texture and grainy tannins, making it sturdy and robust. Substantial and wonderfully harmonious, finishing persistent and velvety. At its best: 2025 to 2020. www.frommwinery.co.nz. Oct 2023.

The colour is inky, almost black, yet the nose has a brightness that complements the dark fruit and violet florals of this classic cool climate Malbec from an outstanding vintage. The palate is full bodied with cassis and dark damson plum flavours, rich and complex. A big but not at all heavy wine of great harmony and well-integrated tannins that finishes with good tension and freshness.

FROMM Malbec Fromm Vineyard 2018
This purple/black coloured Malbec opens with a deep floral perfume combined with intense dark berry aromas. The palate is again full of dark fruit that is fresh and vibrant with a masculine tautness and firm structure, all typical hallmarks of our young cool climate Malbec. Like an energetic teenager, this wine needs at least 2 to 3 years of cellaring to mature into a fully integrated and harmonious wine. Aged for 21 months in 228 litre French oak barrels (no new wood used). |
Testimonial -- FROMM Malbec Fromm Vineyard 2012
I purchased this wine in 2015 while visiting your vineyard on vacation. At the time I lived in Singapore working for the US Embassy.
We finally opened it on Sep 2, 2021 to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary and it was amazing!
I vividly remember buying and even asking the sales lady that helped me when she thought it would be mature. She said 2023 and I wrote that on the back of the label. My wife missed my note before she opened it. Not to worry because, like I said, it was delicious!
This bottle traveled with us from New Zealand to Singapore. Then from Singapore to California and then from California to where we now live in South Carolina.
FROMM Malbec Fromm Vineyard 2017
Our 2017 Malbec shows the power inherent to the variety yet also expresses the cool climate in which it is grown. Opening with dense blackberry/boysenberry fruit and a black olive savouriness the aromas then shift to reveal lifted qualities of purple florals and fragrant sweet spice. The palate shows a lovely weight and concentration of fruit, balanced by a charming elegance & finesse. Not at all shy on tannins (integrated and ripe) and with consummate acidity this wine will surely age well. It also has the ability to comfortably hobnob with rich savoury dishes, especially straight off the BBQ. Made naturally without sulphur. (March 2019)

This has very fresh and fragrant aromas of black cherries, brambleberries and white pepper, leading to a palate that has a very polished, pepper-dusted black-fruit core and long, black-fruit flavor to close. Drink or hold.

"Estate-grown in Marlborough and hand-picked from mature vines, this red is recommended by winemaker Hätsch Kalberer for drinking with 'a large piece of wild venison'. The 2017 vintage (4.5*) is rare ? only four barrels were made. Oak-aged for 19 months, it has deep, purple-flushed colour. Fresh, spicy aromas lead into a full-bodied, very youthful wine, with strong plum, spice and blackcurrant flavours, good tannin backbone and a long finish. Unusually refined for Malbec, it should break into full stride 2021+. Certified organic."

Dense and flavoursome red with plum, mint, dark berry and spicy oak flavours. An elegant wine showing a good balance of fruit sweetness and fine, drying tannins. Good potential for bottle age.

"This is a full and rich Malbec with black fruits, spices and curranty notes on a considerably well-structured palate. The flavours are rich and up-front, and unfold a layer of spicy detail." Raymond Chan
