FROMM Chardonnay Clayvin Vineyard 2022
While rather muted on the nose while cold, this wine unfurls in the glass to reveal hints of stone fruit, white blossoms and a hint of apricot kernel. The palate shows a concentrated core of just-ripe conference pear, white nectarine, framed by a touch of apple-skin phenolic grip. A vein of fine acidity runs throughout, bringing freshness and a sense of poise and balance to this subtle and elegant wine.

14 Mar, 2024 – Lovely aromas of sage flowers, dried apples, flint, stone and lemon blossoms. Medium-bodied with a creamy texture and lemon rind, pear and green melon touches on the palate. Lightly spicy. From a fantastic vineyard in Marlborough. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

2021 produced a powerful, complex yet restrained Clayvin Chardonnay, exhibiting a range of mineral reduction, oyster shell, iodine, spice, floral and citrus aromas. There is excellent volume and intensity to the very concentrated big-bodied flavour that deliver huge length on the bone-dry, austere and compact finish. 

This wine is again foremost an expression of an exceptional terroir from a low cropping vintage with the vineyard character being the most important feature, whereas the typical flavour profile of the Chardonnay grape becomes secondary. Being made 100% from the tight structured Mendoza clone and matured on fine lees without any new oak influence further underscores the style we strive for.

Intense, vibrant chardonnay with white peach, a hint of green apple, oyster shell, and spicy French oak flavours. Taut, youthful wine with a mouth-watering backbone of bright acidity. Accessible now but would benefit from a little bottle age.

FROMM Chardonnay Clayvin Vineyard 2020
The 2020 Clayvin Chardonnay shows once again the pedigree of this outstanding terroir. Aromatically cool, pure, restrained and delicately poised with its lovely array of mineral reduction, lemon rind, white flower and pear influences, this wine is all finesse with no weakness. The palate offers a wonderfully refined texture, harmony and an airy lightness that makes its underlying power nearly invisible.

A beguiling boquet of complexity and detail, there’s no mistaking the sense of site and time layered bwteeen the scents of fresh orchard fruits, white peach and citrus then a lees and barrel spice note adding to the mineral complexity. Equally complex and enticing on the palate with fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet, there’s a new vibrant mouthfeel with fine tannins and mineral qualities. This is a wine of texture as much as flavour. Wild white flowers and a leesy finesse. Well made with a lengthy finish. Best drinking from late 2023 through 2029+
