FROMM La Strada Sauvignon Blanc 2015

95 Points, 5 Stars

“Ripe and concentrated Sauvignon Blanc, with appealing purity and a thread of welcome chalky mineral character adding extra complexity to gooseberry, capsicum and lime zest flavours. Attractive wine that gives a nod in the direction of Sancerre”

“Certified organic, the outstanding 2015 vintage (5*) was hand-picked and fermented with indigenous yeasts in tanks (mostly) and seasoned French oak casks. Light lemon/green, it is fragrant and weighty, with ripe, tropical fruit flavours to the fore, good complexity, layers of flavour, and a finely textured, dry, long finish. Full of personality.”

“The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc has an appealingly savory yeasty, struck flint and mineral laced nose over an apple and lemon core plus a waft of fresh hay. Medium-bodied with a beautiful silkiness to the texture, plenty of yeasty goodness and citrus zing, it finishes with excellent persistence. This should develop nicely over the next 4-6+ years”

“This year’s La Strada sauvignon is typically green-edged and minerally. Lime and wet stone flavours are driven by racy acids, with some textural resistance adding a little gravitas. A dry, uplifting style that finishes with mouthwatering freshness.”

“This is a stylishly restrained, finely concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with flavours of gooseberries, lifted piquant herbs and white florals on a fine, lacy, dry-textured palate.”

“This is elegant and restrained, yet not short on fruit concentration and attractive flavours. The bouquet shows elegant aromas of white nectarine, lemon peel, dill and flint, leading to a beautifully weighted and richly fruited palate that is bright and vibrant. The wine shows fine texture and rounded mouthfeel, brilliantly structured by juicy acidity.”
