FROMM Pinot Noir Churton Vineyard 2017

Michael Cooper, New Zealand Wines
5 stars

"The 2017 vintage (5*) is rare ? only five barrels were made. Grown organically in the Churton Vineyard, in the Waihopai Valley, it was hand-picked from east-facing clay slopes, fermented with indigenous yeasts, oak-matured, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Full, bright ruby, it is fresh and smooth-flowing, with strong, vibrant plum, cherry and spice flavours, and a finely poised, long finish. A generous, savoury, supple red, with a real sense of youthful drive, it should be at its best 2021+."

“This is a more open book at this point than the 2017 Clayvin vineyard
pinot noir from here. A bright array of fresh blueberry and red-cherry
aromas and flavours. The palate also delivers a raspberry edge with a juicy,
succulent and approachable feel to the finish.”

"From a biodynamic vineyard in the Waihopai Valley. A richly-textured wine with ripe black-fleshed plum, earth, mixed spice and nutty oak flavours. A complex and layered wine with good depth and a lengthy finish. Should age well" 11/3/2019
